All students should have access to a high-quality public education that prepares them for their chosen paths in adult life. In addition to rigorous academic instruction, students need real world skills that instill resilience and prepare them to succeed in a variety of professional and interpersonal settings.
Students need talented and motivated educators and we have some of the best in the country. Student success also requires critical support in areas such as counseling, health services, nutrition, school-aged care, and transportation, to name a few. All LPS employees play a part in ensuring student success. I will focus on what LPS can do in a challenging environment to attract and retain employees.
Families have a valued role in their kids’ education. As a parent, I've prioritized building positive relationships with my children's teachers and school leaders. As a co-founder and leader of Liberty Parents for Public Schools, I've focused on constructive and civil advocacy in my outreach to LPS leaders. As a board member, I'll prioritize building positive relationships with all LPS stakeholders (students, parents, employees, other stakeholders). It's also critical to seek out relevant and reliable data to support decision-making. School boards must prioritize a collaborative and data-driven decision-making process.
School board members are elected volunteers who serve because they care. If elected, I will be one of seven voices representing our community, all elected by voters. I will work with other board members to set goals for LPS and assess progress toward those goals. As a board member, I will value the opportunity to hear from diverse voices in our community and engage in civil and respectful discourse regarding our schools.
